KAZI PITELKA

viola
Kazi Pitelka is principal viola for Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and Long Beach Symphony.

She is a member of XTET and an active participant in Los Angeles' recording industry. (For years she has accompanied the weekly adventures in the various Star Trek spinoffs, and in one famous Next Generation episode Kazi's viola solo did the impossible, bringing a Vulcan to tears.)

Kazi has appeared as soloist with the Long Beach Symphony and Oregon Bach Festival, and played the rarely heard viola d'amore solos in Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet with San Francisco Ballet.

A serious organic gardener and orchardist, member of Slow Food and the California Rare Fruit Growers, published quilter, devoted knitter, dedicated hiker, and mother of two, Kazi preserves, cans, and pickles everything within reach, from heirloom tomato sauces to flavored liqueurs.

Sometimes she sleeps.
