Emmy award-winning composer Thom Sharp was born and raised in southeastern Ohioís Appalachian foothills. After obtaining a Bachelor of Music degree from Ohio University, Thom taught elementary and middle school instrumental music before moving to Los Angeles where he enjoys continued success as a composer, orchestrator, arranger, and conductor. Thom is well acquainted with childrenís music, having composed and orchestrated for many child-oriented animation productions, including the award-winning ìNew Adventures of Winnie the Poohî. Thom co-wrote, arranged and produced Sue Robertís Parents Choice Awards-approved childrenís CD ìSongs from the Circleî in 1996. In addition to his busy schedule as a Hollywood film and TV composer, Thom finds the time to work with young people at the First United Methodist Church in Pasadena, and the Pasadena Waldorf School in Altadena, California, writing and rehearsing music for student pageants and plays. Thom taught composition, theory, and arranging at the highly regarded Grove School of Music and currently teaches UCLA extention classes in orchestration and composition. SHARP MOUNTAIN MUSIC is currently is publishing compositions for string orchestra, THE BLUES BOOK, and a couple of Christmas Pageants by Thom Sharp. |
